Why the God Filled Read Proverbs

Cash money by Nathan Gibbs

Today’s reading is Proverbs 16-20.

“How much better to get wisdom than gold! To get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver” (Proverbs 16:16, ESV).

Wait! What? No way.

Yes, absolutely.

Perhaps this is why David wrote: “The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul…the rules of the Lord are true, they are righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb” (Psalm 19:7, 9b-10, ESV). Where else can we gain golden wisdom?

What’s so Precious about Heaven?

Little treasure (I am rich because I have many friends..) by Bernat Casero

Today’s reading is Proverbs 11-15.

“Better is a little with the fear of the LORD than great treasure and trouble with it” (Proverbs 15:16, ESV).

God is more than enough. If He blesses us with treasures, we use them to His glory. If He does not, we have no need to chase them. That way only leads to trouble. And yet money is perhaps the chief opponent of God (see Matthew 6:24). Remember the old joke that gold is merely pavement in heaven; the truly valuable and precious gem of heaven is God. God is more than enough.

Wisdom or Folly? Who Will You Heed?

wisdom by Andy Rennie

Today’s reading is Proverbs 6-10.

Two women call for your allegiance today. The one is Wisdom, the other Folly (Proverbs 9). The guests of the former live and walk in the way of insight. The guests of the latter are guests of death. How can we tell which we have chosen? Wisdom is marked by fear of God and knowledge of the Holy One. The wise accept counsel, instruction, and even correction and rebuke. The fool fears nothing, knows little, and scoffs those who advise, listening only to what goes along with his passions and desires. Who are you listening to today?

Trust God, He Knows the Way

Trust by Adrian Ruiz

Today’s reading is Proverbs 1-5.

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding” (Proverbs 3:5, ESV).

It is impossible to be God Filled when I’m Me Filled. And isn’t that the great competition every day of our lives? Will we lean on our understanding or God’s explanation? We must take God’s hand, letting Him lead us. We may not always understand the path, but God’s destination is greater than anything we can accomplish. God’s destination for us is His presence, and that will be worth every path down which He leads us, whether lying down in green pastures beside still waters or walking in the valley of the shadow of death. Trust God, He knows where He is taking us, and He knows the way. Praise the LORD!
